Despite losing the initial game to Tanvi Sharma, the determined teenager made a remarkable comeback to equalize the score. In a surprising turn of events, the unseeded Chirag Sen claimed the men’s singles title by defeating the fourth-seeded Tharun M.


During the period of April to November 2023, there was a notable rise of 8.38% in the generation of power from domestic coal sources.


India has experienced a notable increase of 7.71 percent in overall power generation and 11.19 percent in power generation from coal sources between April and November of this year, in compare to the exact period in the previous year. The Ministry has stated that India currently holds the position of the third-largest energy consumer globally, with an annual rise in electricity demand of approximately 4.7 percent.


The appointment of Pramod Agrawal as BSE Chairman has been approved by SEBI.

The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) has received approval from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) for the appointment of Pramod Agrawal as its new Chairman. According to a regulatory filing by the stock exchange, Agrawal will assume his role on January 17, 2024. Prior to this appointment, Agrawal served as the Chairman of Coal India until June 2023.


ISRO announces that India’s inaugural solar mission is set to reach its destination, located 1.5 million km away from Earth.


ISRO Chairman S Somanath has made an announcement regarding the arrival of Aditya-L1 at the Lagrangian point L1 on January 6th. This specific point is situated 1.5 million kilometers away from Earth. Having been launched from Sriharikota on September 2nd, India’s inaugural solar mission will execute a significant maneuver upon reaching L1.


Once it is successfully positioned at the L1 point, it will remain there for the subsequent five years, collecting highly crucial data not only for India but for the entire global community. The spacecraft will conduct extensive research on solar upper atmospheric dynamics, chromospheric and coronal heating, the physics of partially-ionized plasma, the initiation of coronal mass ejections, and flares. Additionally, it will observe the in-situ particle and plasma environment, providing valuable data for the study of particle dynamics originating from the Sun, magnetic field topology, and magnetic field measurements in the solar corona.


 UN  declare 2024 as the International Year of Camelids.

The International Year of Camelids has been officially declared by the UN to be 2024. Camels, llamas, alpacas, vicuñas, and guanacos play a crucial role in the livelihoods of millions of families, particularly pastoralists, residing in arid and mountainous rangeland ecosystems across the globe. This designated Year aims to enhance public and policymakers’ understanding of the vital contribution made by camelids.


The ‘SAMAR’ air defense missile system was effectively testfired by the Indian Air Force during Exercise Astrashakti.

Utilizing its existing Russian-made air-to-air missile systems, the IAF has created the Surface to Air Missile for Assured Retaliation (SAMAR) air defense missile system.


LIC has been granted an extension until 2032 to meet the minimum public shareholding requirements.

LIC, the Life Insurance Corporation of India, has been granted an extension until May 2032 to meet the Minimum Public Shareholding (MPS) requirements set by the Securities and Exchange Board of India. As of September 30, 2023, the government holds a majority stake of 96.5% in LIC. In an effort to comply with regulations, the government divested 3.5% of its shareholding in LIC last year, resulting in the company being listed on the stock exchange.
